Enter a sumo stable, or beya, and enjoy an insider’s look at the rigorous morning training, asageiko, to witness active rikishi (Sumo wrestlers) into training rituals and techniques. This rare opportunity brings you up close to sumo wrestlers as they push their limits in a display of strength, skill and discipline.
Schedule: December-February, April-June, August-October. There is no public training session during odd months, which are dedicated to national tournaments (January, March, May, July, September, November).
